Frequently asked questions

Do you have a shop?

No, we work out of a private bakery on a pre-order only basis.

I have seen a cake that I like on the Sophie’s Cupcakes Facebook Page but I would like it in a different colour/size – is this possible?

All our cakes and cupcakes are completely bespoke so we can swap and change as many parts as you like. Our main aim is to create a perfect cake for you. You are by no means limited to what you have seen on our website/Facebook.

How much notice do I need to give to place an order?

Orders for flavoured cupcakes* must be placed by 2pm one working day in advance

Cakes require an extra day's notice and so require two day's notice.

*excluding personalised cupcakes, these require two day's notice.

Do you offer a delivery service?

Yes, we do offer delivery for a small fee. Please contact us here for a delivery quote.

What happens if I need to amend my order?

Should you like to change your order, we require one weeks notice on cakes and cupcakes.

Changes can be made by contacting us here.

Do your cupcakes contain nuts?

Some of our cupcakes do contain nuts, however if you have a nut allergy let us know when you place your order. We do bake in an environment whereby nuts are heavily used and so traces may be found.

How do I use a Gift Voucher?

Please enter the code found on the Gift Voucher into the promo code field on the checkout page. Alternatively call us and we will take your order over the telephone.

How much deposit do you require when ordering?

As we have previously had people cancel orders once it has already been started, the following deposits are required:

Cupcakes - £10

Large Cakes - £20

Weddings - £60

How long will my cakes and cupcakes stay fresh for?

We recommend that your cakes are stored in the fridge and are removed up to 1 hour before eating. When storing in the fridge ensure that the cake is kept in the box and with the lid on, this will then stay fresh for around 3 days. Cupcakes are best enjoyed within 2 days of purchase.

How should I care for my cakes?

Your cakes need to be treated like your babies! Once you have collected your cake, place it on the foot well of you car as it needs to be placed on a flat surface. If it is hot and you have air-con, please use it to prevent the cake melting in the heat. Do NOT leave your cake in the heat or exposed to sunlight as it will melt. Place it straight in the fridge and remove it 1 hour before eating as that is when it tastes its best.
